Kitty is a blond woman, and a brown/tan werewolf. Her kind of werewolf is not liked by dogs, and only has to change form on the middle night of the full moon. Kitty runs a show called The Midnight Hour which is a talk show for all the things that go bump in the night. It starts in a moment of stress where she gets angry at having nowhere that her kind of people can talk and picks up popularity rapidly, both from the supernatural community and from the humans who think that it's all just a big publicity stunt.

That's pretty much the defining characteristic of Kitty Norville; she deals. As a college student attacked by a werewolf she had six months where she could barely function, but with a little help she dealt and got her degree. She dealt with the pack alpha, Carl, when he was abusing her (as he did all the females in the pack) and challenged when it got too bad. She lost, but she tried.
